Description

Ponyo Underwater: Fujimoto

The first of some to come (hopefully).

Myself :iconalita-b-angel: as Fujimoto from Ponyo by the Sea

Shot by the lovely and talented :iconhoukiboshi:

The Shoot:
*houkiboshi then revealed she can't swim lol. Though I'm not the strongest swimmer either. But she was damned determined.

So that it mattered since it was more important that she and I sank like a rock.

With the help of :iconqueencattabby: to hold her down in the water lol.

Unfortunately the only person we knew who had a blue cement lined pool also had an UNHEATED pool so we froze and possibly got hypothermia while doing this.

Much kudos to :iconsorceressmoonblader: also for suffering with us in freezing temperatures as assistant and laughing at us being drowned rats.

The original idea for this underwater shoot was the life's dream of :iconarlo-arleh: who wanted to do Ponyo specifically for this underwater shoot (also the only one who's a strong swimmer).

The original costume was for Animania 2011 this year where we also won best skit: This Light Between Us where she also wanted to do a water dance using fabric (it kind of worked... kind of).

Costume:

Probably the most proper sewing I've done in years. Fully lined coat done with perfect patterning, AND lined shoulder pads to give a non floppy shoulder (but you can't see this here)... and all in stripe. Which is extremely hard to do since there's no room for mistake.

We also did some water tests to make sure the chlorine won't ruin the coat... and it won't so long as you don't clean the pool the day before and heat would also make it easier to fade.

The wig was ruined by dunking it in chlorine water lol.

And the Ponyo was bought from Japan which we thought it would be a great idea to seal inside a Christmas globe for a bubble :)

This shoot was fun, but the hardest to endure for all involved. Again much kudos to *houkiboshi for almost drowning for us.
